The district’s Crescent Lake Conservation Area will host Operation Outdoor Freedom participants on Jan. 7 – 11, 2019.

MAITLAND, Fla., Jan. 7, 2019 — The St. Johns River Water Management District’s Crescent Lake Conservation Area will host veteran’s group Operation Outdoor Freedom for a guided deer hunt Jan. 7-11. The property will remain open to recreation during this time; signage about the hunt will be placed at property entry points.

A program of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Operation Outdoor Freedom provides wounded veterans with unique opportunities for recreation and rehabilitation. The district hosts the event in partnership with the Florida Forest Service and Friends of Florida State Forests.

The 3,528-acre Crescent Lake Conservation Area is adjacent to Haw Creek Preserve and Haw Creek Preserve State Park, which protect wetlands and water quality for approximately two miles along Haw Creek. More information about the area is available online at www.sjrwmd.com/recreation.
