Education workshops
The St. Johns River Water Management District offers a variety of training opportunities for teachers. Workshop topics include the use of The Great Water OdysseySM, Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), WaterWays and other topics. The mission of the District’s water resource education section is to deliver educational programs that further appreciation and protection of waterways and enhance public stewardship of Florida’s water resources. Workshops currently scheduled follow.
September 2010
- Sept. 11, 2010 — Project WET (Water Education for Teachers). This workshop will be for Girl Scout leaders and be held at Camp Kateri, 183 Camp Shalom Trail, Hawthorne, FL 32640. To register, contact Cheryl Abbott at WAVed@sjrwmd.com. Registration must be completed by Aug. 23.
October 2010
- Oct. 21, 2010 — The Great Water OdysseySM multi-grade (Grades 3, 4 and 5) educator workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Florida Association of Science Teachers (FAST) conference, World Golf Village, St. Johns County. For more information or to register, visit fastscience.org/Conferences.aspx. Seating is limited to 25.
