Workshops
Workshops and training are offered by the St. Johns River Water Management District. The course is open to educators teaching in schools located within the water management district’s 18-county service area. Counties where the program is already being taught include
Nassau, Baker, Duval, Clay, St. Johns (including the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind), Alachua (including P.K. Yonge), Putnam, Flagler, Marion, Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Brevard and Indian River.
In some cases, other agencies, local governments or private businesses partner with the St. Johns District to provide materials for educators. Both the Southwest Florida Water Management District and the South Florida Water Management District are making all three grades of The Great Water OdysseySM available within their counties. Please contact the appropriate water management district for your area.
Training is provided through one of the following formats — online courses or traditional face-to-face workshops. Educators who attend a traditional workshop or complete the online course and then use The Great Water OdysseySM with their students will receive the following:
- Educator’s manual, including all answers to CD quizzes and assessments
- Stories, work sheets and other materials to expand the lessons
- Interactive CD of the curriculum
