Workshops

Training in the use of The Great Water OdysseySM (Odyssey) is offered by the St. Johns River Water Management District. There is no charge for Odyssey training and materials for educators located within the water management district’s 18-county service area. The training and curriculum are available at a cost of $150 per each grade level for educators located outside of the District.

In some cases, other agencies, local governments or private businesses partner with the St. Johns District to provide materials for educators. Both the Southwest Florida Water Management District and the South Florida Water Management District are making all three grades of Odyssey available within their counties. Please contact the appropriate water management district for your area.

Training is provided through online courses or traditional face-to-face workshops. Educators who attend a traditional workshop or complete the online course and then use Odyssey with their students will receive the following:

  • An educator’s manual and interactive computer program
  • Literature selections, hands-on activities, worksheets (with answer keys) and other materials to expand lessons
  • Florida Sunshine State Standards and Next Generation Standards correlations
  • FCAT-like practice materials with rubrics
  • Related implementation and teaching strategies
  • Ongoing technical support

Computer requirements to run Odyssey are as follows:

Windows
  • 500 MHz or faster Pentium processor or equivalent
  • Windows 98 or later (NT not supported)
  • 128MB of RAM (256MB recommended)

Macintosh
