About this property
This conservation area is composed of several tracts of land that border more than 10 miles of Thomas Creek — the largest tributary of the Nassau River. Expansive areas of floodplain swamp comprise a large part of the conservation area, with most of the upland acres located near U.S. Hwy. 1/U.S. Hwy. 23. A portion of the property is designated as a wildlife management area, with hunting managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Cary State Forest is nearby.
One of the special highlights of this property is its historical uses that included commercial silviculture, which is indicated by the presence of bedded pine plantations, numerous roads, ditches, borrow pits and canals found throughout the property.
