Governmental Affairs Program
Through the Governmental Affairs Program, district staff provide water resource information, assistance and support to federal, state and local elected officials and their staffs, and collaborate on water resource issues, programs and projects. Intergovernmental coordinators work directly with federal, state, regional and local agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, regional planning councils, leagues of cities, the Harris Chain of Lakes Restoration Council and other stakeholder groups. Intergovernmental coordinators should be contacted if you have any questions regarding the district’s cost-share cooperative funding program, have concerns about flood protection/emergency response, require technical assistance to support stormwater management projects, or have questions regarding water conservation. Technical assistance is provided to 119 city and county governments through review of comprehensive plan amendments.
