District event celebrates Lake Apopka Loop Trail extension
MAITLAND, Fla., March 30, 2016 — The St. Johns River Water Management District is hosting a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of a new segment of recreational trail in Lake County that joins the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Trailhead with the Apopka Loop Trail.
The district partnered with Lake County to build the new 2.5-mile trail connection, which provides expanded opportunities for wildlife viewing, hiking and bicycling. The new trail connection links the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Trailhead with the district’s 18-mile Lake Apopka Loop Trail. On-site interviews and photo opportunities will be available.
