District launches online pledge program to celebrate Water Conservation Month
MAITLAND, Fla., April 1, 2016 — April is Water Conservation Month and to celebrate the St. Johns River Water Management District is asking everyone to pledge to help reduce water use. The online pledge program launches this Friday, April 1 to raise awareness about simple changes you can make to help conserve Florida’s water supply.
“Water conservation is at the core of our water supply mission,” said St. Johns River Water Management District Executive Director Dr.Ann Shortelle. “This month is the perfect opportunity to remind the community that everyone has the power to take water conservation action and help ensure we use water wisely as well as safeguard future supplies.”
Anyone can take the district’s water conservation pledge by visiting www.sjrwmd.com/waterpledge.html. By taking the online pledge users commit to take at least one action, like installing water-conserving appliances or fixing leaky faucets around the house, to reduce their water use.
