Public lands remain closed until each is assessed for safety

PALATKA, Fla., Sept. 11, 2017 — All St. Johns River Water Management District offices and public lands will remain closed through Tuesday as district staff recover from the impacts of Hurricane Irma and also inspect district facilities to ensure staff and visitor safety.

The closure includes district headquarters in Palatka, service centers in Jacksonville, Maitland and Palm Bay, and all field stations and satellite offices.

District lands will be reopened after district land managers can assess the properties for safety and accessibility.

In addition, several public meetings originally set for this week, including the September Governing Board meeting, have been postponed. The Governing Board meeting is rescheduled for 4:30 p.m., Sept. 19, followed by the tentative Fiscal Year 2017-2018 millage and budget hearing at 5:05 p.m.
