PALATKA, Fla., May 18, 2020 — The next topics in the St. Johns River Water Management District’s free educational webinar series include stormwater systems, Florida springs and the district’s core missions of water supply, water quality protection, natural systems and flood protection.
These free, half-hour educational webinars begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays. Registration is on the district’s website, www.sjrwmd.com.
- May 21 — Stormwater: Ponds, Pollution and You will focus on how our stormwater systems are designed and function and on actions your community can take to manage stormwater systems to minimize impacts to water resources.
- May 28 — Springs of Florida will provide an overview of Florida springs, including some historical facts about springs and information about their hydrology, water quality and biology. Guest presenter Rob Mattson has been involved in Florida springs protection for 25 years. As part of his district responsibilities, Mattson conducts annual surveys of the submerged aquatic vegetation in seven spring runs on the St. Johns River — but Juniper Creek is his favorite.
- June’s weekly webinars will focus on the district’s core missions and will kick off June 4 with District Executive Director Dr. Ann Shortelle discussing water supply.
Look for additional webinar topics in the future.
