District to hold public workshops in July on draft Central Springs/East Coast Regional Water Supply Plan

PALATKA, Fla., July 13, 2021 — The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting three public workshops to discuss the draft Central Springs/East Coast Regional Water Supply Plan and to take public comment.

The draft plan can be reviewed at www.sjrwmd.com/water-supply/planning/csec-rwsp and is open for public comment through Aug. 27.

The public workshops are being held to communicate the status, overall conceptual intent and impacts of the Central Springs/East Coast Regional Water Supply Plan on existing and future reasonable-beneficial uses and related natural systems. Each workshop will contain the same overall summary for the planning region, but specific details will be presented pertaining to the sub-region in which the workshop is being held.

In addition, a technical methods workshop will be held at 5:05 p.m., July 21, at District headquarters, Governing Board Room, 4049 Reid St., Palatka, or virtually through GoToWebinar. The Central Springs/East Coast regional water supply planning area is one of three planning regions within the District. Water supply planning is part of the District’s work to ensure that adequate and sustainable water supplies are available to meet future needs while protecting the environment. Water supply plans identify future water supply needs for a 20-year planning horizon and program and project options needed to ensure sustainable supplies.
