PALATKA, Fla. Oct. 28, 2022 — The Burrell Lock in Lake County is scheduled to be temporarily closed Nov. 1 and 2 as part of the St. Johns River Water Management District’s ongoing maintenance of the structure. The closure is necessary for the public’s safety and the safety of divers who will conduct underwater repairs to the lock.

The Burrell Lock is part of a system of locks and dams in the Upper Ocklawaha River Basin in central Florida. The District maintains and operates the locks that are used to move boats through water bodies in the basin of different elevations, with lock attendants present during operating hours to assist boaters safely navigate through the locks.
