PALATKA, Fla., Aug. 30, 2023 — Hurricane Idalia quickly made its way across the state Wednesday, leaving minimal damage across the St. Johns River Water Management District’s 18-county region.

Here is a summary of the District’s current status of operations:

  • The District’s headquarters in Palatka and service centers in Palm Bay, Apopka and Jacksonville will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31.
  • Navigation through the Burrell Lock, Moss Bluff Lock, and the Apopka Lock and Dam will be permitted beginning at sunrise tomorrow.
  • District properties remain closed to ensure public safety. However, staff will begin damage assessments Thursday morning and anticipate opening lands as soon as Thursday afternoon.
