The District is conducting a 17-acre prescribed burn at the Micco Water Management Area in Brevard County, located within the Indian River Lagoon and Upper St. Johns River Basin. The burn area is in the central western portion of the property. This prescribed fire is essential for reducing hazardous fuel loads and maintaining the health of fire-dependent natural communities.

The District will temporarily close portions of the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive on select dates in August to allow for slope-stabilization work. The closures are necessary to ensure public safety during the installation of slope-stabilizing materials.

Ten counties exceeded their 12-month averages, while three were more than 2 inches below. Precipitation varied widely, delivered by summer thunderstorms and frontal systems, including Invest 93L, which crossed the District in mid-July.
