The mean annual 10-year, 25-year, and 100-year flood profiles for the Upper St. Johns River Basin under the existing conditions

Synthetic streamflow data were generated for the period 1949-83 by a continuous hydrologic simulation model, and flood flow frequency analyses were conducted on the annual peak flow data. The mean annual 10-year, 25-year, and 100-year flood profiles were computed for the St. Johns River at its headwaters near the Florida Turnpike/State Road 46.

Water quality of the southern reach of the middle St. Johns River: A focus on the drought of 1980 through 1981

Due to a drought in 1980-81, the seasonal pattern of stage levels for the southern reach of the middle St. Johns River differed from the 30-year norm. Annual mean concentrations of several chemical constituents in the river doubled and, in some cases, tripled. Analyses of water quality data collected by governmental agencies form the basis for this report. Interpretive efforts were concentrated on data collected from 1976 through February 1982.

Howell Branch basin surface water management study, Phase I: Technical data

Phase 1 of this study deals with (1) the determination of flood elevations and the delineation of floodplain areas under existing land use conditions and assumed future development for the 10-, 25-, and 100-year design storms and (2) the determination of the effect of a change in the crest elevation of Lake Maitland weir on flood elevations upstream and downstream of the weir. Phase 2 consists of the development of a basin water management plan to reduce potential flooding and to protect the water resources of the basin. Volume I of this report contains results obtained from the Phase 1 study, and Volume II consists of an appendix of equations and an appendix of discharge and stage hydrographs.

Volume 1, the diagnostic study, reports the results and conclusions of ecological studies of the upper St. Johns River chain of lakes in four major areas: general water quality, agricultural pumpage water quality, the rate and nature of lake sedimentation, and the relationship between floodplain vegetation and hydrology. The results of the diagnostic study were used to develop restoration goals. These goals, and feasible means of attaining them, are the subject of Volume 2, the feasibility study.
