Multiple projects on the District’s Lake Apopka North Shore property will begin March 20.

Multiple projects on the District’s Lake Apopka North Shore property will begin March 20.

PALATKA, Fla., March 17, 2023 — The St. Johns River Water Management District will be conducting maintenance at the Lake Apopka North Shore property beginning March 20. During this time, a portion of both Interceptor and Laughlin roads will be closed to hikers and bikers.

Additionally, re-decking of the Bailey bridges at County Road 448A (McDonald Boat Ramp) will begin March 20 and Welland Road (Unit 2 pump house) will begin March 27. The McDonald Canal Boat Ramp, the Shad Boat Ramp and the North Shore Trailhead will be closed to the public from March 20 through 24.

Both portions of the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive near the construction sites will remain closed for the duration of the projects. Visitors will still have access to the drive and the exit.
