PALATKA, Fla., Feb. 13, 2024 — The St. Johns River Water Management District has initiated its shoreline stabilization project along Welland Road, scheduled to continue until Feb. 23. During this time, Welland and Roach roads will be closed Monday through Friday to all traffic, including pedestrians. Signage will be visibly posted at the trailheads of the affected routes.

Simultaneously, ongoing levee work north of Roach Road is set to continue through April, resulting in the closure of Roach Road for the entire duration of the project.

Despite the temporary road closures, the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive will remain open, but visitors should expect detours. Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays.
