Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive temporarily closing for the weekend

The Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive will be closed to motorized vehicles Oct. 9–12 due to heavy rainfall in the area.
The St. Johns River Water Management District (District) will temporarily close the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive to motorized vehicles from Oct. 9–12 due to heavy rainfall and saturated road conditions.

The roads within the Wildlife Drive are susceptible to damage when wet conditions are combined with heavy vehicle traffic. With thousands of vehicle trips typically occurring over the holiday weekend, keeping the roads closed will help prevent costly damage and protect recent roadway improvements. The closure includes Columbus Day, when the Wildlife Drive would normally be open.

The Lake Apopka Loop Trail and all pedestrian access gates will remain open to pedestrians and bicycles and is not affected by the temporary closure. For updates on closures to District lands, please check www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation/announcements or follow us on social media.
